In Memory

Debbie Shoup (Powers)

Deborah Sue Shoup Powers, 71, peacefully passed away March 27, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, in Ashland, Ohio.

She was born on June 7, 1949; the daughter of the late John and Phyllis Shoup. Deb was the beloved wife, and the best friend of her one and only love of 52 years, Bill Powers.

She was a devoted mother to her two children, Jamie Powers and Missie (Terry) Freistuhler; and a doting grandmother to her three grandbabies, Kieran and Colin Freistuhler, and Baeleigh Powers; a loving sister to Wes (Kit) Shoup; a dear aunt to Courtney, John, and Graham Pharr, and Farrell Shoup Edwards. Deb is also survived by her mother-in-law, Helen Powers.

She was a great friend to all that knew her.

Debbie graduated from Ashland High School in 1967 and upon graduation attended Business School in Canton, Ohio. During her lifetime, Deb worked as a secretary at Hess and Clark, as a travel agent at Fredo Travel, and as a Typesetter at Beacon Graphics.

After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Samaritan Hospital, and was an active member of The Moose Lodge of Ashland #1383.

Deb was a kind soul, whose life revolved around her family and loved ones. Her grandchildren were her world and could do no wrong in her eyes. She was their biggest cheerleader, and their best friend. Deb was absolutely adored by her family. She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas. Deb also liked to spend time with her girls' night group, and she had a major love for shopping. She also enjoyed supporting the Ashland High School Wrestling Team. Her smile was contagious, and she always made sure you knew you were loved.
