Delbert Evege

 



Delbert D. Evege, 68 of Ashland passed away, Thursday, June 22, 2017 in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 30, 1948 in Ashland, Ohio to the late Norman and Frances (nee Cox) Evege. Delbert graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1967. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Vermillion. He married the former Diana Jamerson on October 4, 1974. Delbert retired from R. R. Donnelley in Willard after more than 10 years of service. Delbert attended The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center and First Church of God in Ashland. He enjoyed playing tennis and singing at church and growing flowers. Delbert also enjoyed watching Cleveland sports throughout his life, including loud cheering for family at school sporting events. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Diana Evege of Ashland; three daughters, Juanita (Demetrius) Stanford of Strongsville, Tanisha Evege of Ashland, and Chauntae Evege of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Malcolm, Dorianeh, Desmond, Jakarra, Shawndrea, Thaddaeus, Joshua, and Jakella; two great grandchildren, RiKhi and Royal; nephews, Edward, Eugene, Greg, Bryan, Jason, Shawn and Chris, along with a host of “surrogate” children and grandchildren who have become like family over the years. In addition to his parents, Delbert is preceded in death by one grandson, Delbert Thomas Evege.
